Hankkeen tavoitteet

Suomen Diakoniaopistossa ei ole ollut aiemmin mahdollista vaativaa erityistä tukea tarvitsevien opiskelijoiden osallistuminen kansainvälisiin liikkuvuuksiin. Sen vuoksi SDO:n koordinoiman hankkeen yhtenä keskeisenä päämääränä on kansainvälisten kokemusten mahdollistaminen heille ja sitä kautta opiskelijoiden yhdenvertaisuuden ja osallisuuden lisääminen. Hankkeen nimi on pitkä, joten käytämme hankenimenä lyhennettä PICCIS, joka tulee sanoista:

Strengthening inclusion of students with special needs through positive pedagogy (PICCIC) is the European
project of three vocational education organizations: “Fachakademie für Heilpädagogik from
Germany, BeauSoleil vocational high school from France and Diakonia College of Finland (Suomen
Diakoniaopisto Oy, SDO), which is coordinating this project. This project is an important part of each
organization´s international activities.
The target is to develop professional skills of their staff and to strengthen inclusion of students with
different special needs. The international exchange program has not been possible for students with
special needs in these organizations.The three vocational colleges have a diverse range of learners.
Many students need additional support and guidance along their study path. Positive pedagogical
strength methods have been systematically used in the teaching and guidance of students with
demanding special support in vocational education in every participating organizations. Now the
teachers and coaches want to share and learn new ideas internationally. The aim is also increase
equal opportunities to participate international activities for all students.
With strength pedagogy, the aim is to learn how to link positive teaching and the “learning by doing”
premise, because it facilitates skills acquisition. It has been found that especially those students with
special support needs require information about their own strengths to experience success and learn
to guide their own activities. In an international culture, they can learn together and support one
another in a positive way.

Hankkeen toteutus

2- vuotiseksi suunnitellussa hankkeessa on seminaariviikkoja/positiivisia työpajoja jokaisessa maassa. Hankeen aloitustapaaminen oli SDO:ssa syyskuussa 2019. Ensimmäinen learning teaching training eli LTT- koulutusviikko asiantuntijoille oli Saksassa joulukuussa 2019 ja toinen tapaaminen Ranskassa syyskuussa 2021. Korona pandemia muutti aikataulua, mutta syyslukuden 2020 ja kevätlukukauden 2021 aikana yhteydenpito tapahtui online erilaisten pienten projektien muodossa. Seuraavaan tapaamiseen SDO:ssa viikolla 3/2022 tulevat myös opiskelijat mukaan. Seuraavaksi olisi Saksan vuoro järjestää vko 19 /2022 hankekokous, jossa myös SDO:n PUKIer (Puhtaanapito ja kiinteistöpalvelun ammattitutkinto) ryhmän opiskelijat mukana. Sama kuvio toistuu vielä Ranskassa syyslukukaudella 2022.

Partners are agreed organizing the program in their college and housting these meetings.
This project is a small pilot with few students. In order to develop special needs students strengths,
skills, self-esteem and inclusion in pedagogical activities, the three partners will involve all students
and the whole educative community. Erasmus+ international exchange is a great lifelong learning
opportunity for staff and students. Later from these experiences could develop international staff and
student program for bigger group and also organise work placements, when positive strength
pedagogy is the method of evaluation.
This project with BeauSoleil vocational high school, Fachakademie für Heilpädagogik Regensburg
and Diakonia College of Finland will be open to anyone follow trough organization´s www-pages and
relevant Erasmus+ platforms.

Lisätietoja hankkeesta

Erityistä tukea tarvitsevien opiskelijoiden on usein vaikea tunnistaa omia vahvuuksiaan ja sanoittaa niitä. Omien vahvuuksien tunnistaminen on tärkeää, koska se toimii ikään kuin ponnahduslautana ja mahdollistajana monille muille asioille. Parhaimmillaan opitaan näkemään paitsi omat, niin myös vertaisten vahvuudet. Osallistuminen kansainväliseen toimintaan yleensä lisää esimerkiksi itsetuntemusta, positiivista minäkuvaa sekä parantaa työelämävalmiuksia.
Positiivisen pedagogiikan näkökulma ja toimintamallit sekä niiden kehittäminen yhdessä eri maiden ammattilaisten kanssa ovat tavoitteena kaikissa hanketapahtumissa. SDO:n lisäksi hankkeessa ovat mukana ammatilliset oppilaitokset Fachakademie für Heilpädagogik Resenburg Saksasta ja LEAP Beausoleil vocational high school Etelä-Ranskasta.

International cooperation cannot only be based on theory and internet communication exchanges.
Also Meetings between the actors are necessary in Finland, France and Germany. This international
exchange of positive pedagogy practices is new for the participants. In this Erasmus project, target is
to understand better, how to prepare students to enter the labor market by identifying their strengths
and actively using them, while learning professional knowledge, skills and competencies. The aim is
to identify the differences between the countries and to transfer the knowledge and concrete actions.

During the first year the staff will meet and learn together from each others teaching methods in LTTmeetings.
They will also plan and design Positive together- LTT-workshops and peer learning
activities for the students with need special support to join for the second year. During the second
year, teachers implement international training periods for the students in small groups. Through this,
students with different special needs should be able to experience success and appreciate
themselves. They also should feel better in class and less different with others students. Students
from foreign countries would join students in the hosting organization. The European network
provides a great peer learning environment for the development of international activities.

Hankkeen tulokset

Tavoitteena oli lisätä kaikkien opiskelijoiden yhtäläisiä mahdollisuuksia kansainväliseen toimintaan. Ensimmäistä kertaa erityisdiagnoosin saaneita opiskelijoita on osallistunut hankkeen mahdollistamalle kansainväliselle vaihtojaksolle ulkomaille osana ammatillisia opintoja (kolme opiskelijaa/organisaatio/osallistuja maa). Tämä edisti selvästi opiskelijoiden hyvinvointia ja positiivista minäkuvaa. Myös opiskelijoiden lähipiiri oli iloinen tästä mahdollisuudesta. Opintojen aikana saadut positiiviset kokemukset opintojen aikana vähentävät keskeyttämisiä ja edistävät työllistymistä.
Kunkin organisaation opiskelijat ja henkilöstö osallistuivat erittäin aktiivisesti myös PICCIS-vieraiden vastaanottamiseen ja ohjelman toteutukseen omassa oppilaitoksessa.
Tämä pienimuotoinen hanke tarjosi partnerioppilaitosten henkilökunnalle mahdollisuuksia positiivisten pedagogisten käytäntöjen vaihtoon ulkomaisten kumppaneiden kanssa. Positiivisen pedagogiikan menetelmät ovat luonnollinen osa kumppanilaitosten arkea erityisen tuen opiskelijoiden ohjauksessa projektin päätyttyä. Projektiryhmässä opittiin järjestämään erityisopiskelijoiden turvallinen matkustus ja kuinka valita oikeat tukihenkilöt oman oppilaitoksen valmistuvista opiskelijoista. Heillä tämä tukihenkilönä toimiminen hankeviikon aikana oli myös osa soveltuvia tutkinto-opintoja.
Hanke oli vaikuttava yksilö- ja organisaatiotasolla, vastasi osallistuvien organisaatioiden kehittämistarpeita. SDO on pyydetty mukaan kumppaniorganisaationa uuteen, laajempaan Erasmus+ KA2 hankkeeseen, Inclusive Mobility VET (IMVET). Hakemus jätetty 3/2023 Alankomaiden kansalliselle toimistolle.

The aim was to increase all students’ equal opportunities for international activities. Planned number of students with special diagnosis have been participating internationally abroad first time (three students in each country from each organization.) This was a small-scale project that clearly brought added value for the staff by providing opportunities to exchange good positive pedagogical practices among the foreign partners. Management team learned, how to organize safety travelling for special needs students and how to select right support persons.
Students in each organization participated very actively, when hosting PICCIS guests in own organization.
This clearly promoted well-being and positive self-image of students. Positive experiences during studies will reduces dropouts and promotes positive continuation and employment.
For the staff, the aim of the project was to embed the methods of positive pedagogy as a natural part of the everyday life of the partner institutions after the end of the project. The project met the development needs of the participating organizations and thus, impact at individual and organizational level is as expected- positive pedagogy as base of everyday teaching in every organization.
